Assisted Reproduction Laboratory

The Assisted Reproduction Laboratory is a privileged part of the Reproduction Unit. It is located adjacent to the operating room in a restricted area at the laboratory staff. This is to avoid the maximum transit through the area, and thus work under the best conditions of hygiene and tranquility. In the design it has been taken into account carefully all the details that may influence the outcome of a cycle of IVF as the type of lighting, temperature and air filtration.

Adjacent to the lab is the operating room, where the oocyte retrievals and the testicular biopsies are performed. In rooms adjacent to the Assisted Reproduction Laboratory embryo transfers are made.

The Laboratory of Assisted Reproduction is divided into three independents laboratories in terms of their function, but very dependent upon one another. These are the Andrology Laboratory, the Embryology Laboratory and the Laboratory of Genetics.

Environmental conditions and aseptic

The work is done in the laboratory under conditions of maximum asepsis, so it is completely isolated from the rest of the clinic and its access is restricted to staff who work in it, which also is equipped at all times, with clothing need.

Biologists work in laminar flow chambers, a place that is constantly swept by a stream of filtered air and always in the same direction; this circumstance prevents any contamination.

The environmental conditions of the laboratory maintain a temperature control by air conditioning filter in a constant temperature.
All materials used in each case are for single use and are removed once the cycle is finished and kept in special containers for biological waste treatment.

Security in controlling the origin of the samples

The characteristics of the work we do and the serious consequences that a mistake could result in the identification of samples, has always been a matter of focusing on our team. All biological samples processed, are always properly labeled. In addition as a control mechanism we perform independent national and international regulations control of biological samples.
