IVF/ICSI

Once the stages of ovarian stimulation and follicular puncture, we can apply the technique IVF / ICSI.
IVF procedures have allowed many couples to have offspring, but for a successful fertilization of the egg in the laboratory we need to provide a sufficient number of morphologically normal and mobile sperms, which does not always occur. To solve this problem the intracytoplasmic sperm injection technique was introduce in 1992.

In this procedure a single sperm is injected into an oocyte to be fertilized and therefore, unlike the classical IVF, it can be performed on samples of semen from very low quality, even in cases of total absence of sperm in the ejaculate. In these cases we get the sperm directly from the testes through the epididymis or intervention performed on the male, called testicular biopsy, which the andrologist performs under local anesthesia and on an outpatient basis. see photos

This technique is indicated increasingly in all treatments to ensure to obtain embryos. After the fertilization the pre-embryos are deposited in a culture medium in the heat of a sophisticated computer that is called “incubator”. At this moment we program the time of the embryo transfer. see photos
